What Next?

We're told our growing, consuming population is generating so much garbage we're running out of potential land fill locations to accept it.
We're told there's so much unemployment that we need to borrow or print a trillion dollars to fund shovel ready jobs.
We've been told for years we have to help feed Africa.

The Truth About Obama's Health Care

Los Angeles Catches On!

Some unknown street artist in Los Angeles has caught on to Pres. Obama, and posters like this one have been popping up all over LA.

I was elated when I first saw one, and the fervor online shows the rapidly rising support for the new, TRUE, Obama "branding."

Posters like "HYPE," "DOPE," "NOPE" have been around since the original "HOPE" design, but this one is far and away the most to the point.

Reduce Clothing and the State Budget

I'm not a nudist but here's a government cost reduction to consider:

Today's O. C. Register front page discusses beach nudity.   Roy Stearns, state Parks and Recreation spokesman says it is better that "we all conform to certain standards".

Why is it better?  For whom is it better?   For the swimsuit manufacturers' lobby?
What does it cost us taxpayers?

The Liberty ViewsLetter, an Invitation to a free Subscription. by Chuck McGlawn

Resolutions for the Incoming EXCOM by Chuck McGlawn

Before our very eyes lie all the incentives man needs to set himself on the road of striving for “Smaller government, Lower taxes, More Freedom, because, gentle reader the effective opposite of that choice is more government, higher taxes and less freedom. Making those incentives understood, and giving contemporary man goals other than those offered by Ds Rs and Gs that of signing on to an organization the goals of which are to tell others how they should live their lives.

If we are to see the curve that measures individual liberty turn upward, we must make Ls the standard. The liberty that we so cherish can only be obtained by a willingness to share it with all.

Check... and mate?

To all those whose eyes glaze over when we warn of impending government oppression, here is the first certain move against the people by our own government.

From the World Socialist Website, an article entitled: Army deploys combat unit in US for possible civil unrest.

The title says it all--this unit is training to subdue civilians with nonlethal weapons similar to what the police are already using (rubber bullets, beanbag shotgun rounds). However, this is a military force, not a law-enforcement agency, and a battle-hardened force recently returned from Iraq. Certainly, they will have fully-automatic M16s in addition to the non-lethal weapons--much more firepower than the weapons borne by law enforcement.

Big Surprise: Eavesdropping Abused..

Libertarians everywhere groaned when they heard of the Bush administration's push for more eavesdropping and wiretapping under the Patriot Act. Bush pledged that it would not be abused, and yet here we are, before Pres. Bush has even left office, and a report is out that the Feds were routinely eavesdropping on private, personal calls made by American citizens traveling in the Middle East who were no threat to our national security.

In an exclusive report by ABC News, NSA whistleblowers reported routine abuse of wiretapping such as trading private phone sex recordings between NSA intercept operators and continued monitoring of non-terrorists.

Current Proof that Big Government Doesn't Work

This week, both California and Massachusetts announced that they have or will run out of money within the next few weeks.

This coming from two of the highest-taxing states is no surprise to libertarians everywhere.

Governments with taxes are like teenagers with cash and credit cards--they're guaranteed to spend every penny they have on hand and then spend to their credit limits.
